The TikTok ban is close to being decided!

October! How?

I have no idea how it’s already October. Time is flying by, BUT one good thing is that we are at the beginning of Q4, both in business and in life.

Here are some Q4 questions to ask yourself:

  • Check your goals from the beginning of the year. How are you doing? What can you do to accomplish those goals? Maybe break them down by month to make them more manageable and easier to achieve.

  • What do you want to happen on January 1st? Can you start working on that now?

  • Are you taking adequate time for yourself? If not, how can you improve?

  • Do you feel burned out? How can you eliminate that and feel more aligned in your business?

  • Check your financials and ensure any projects are accurately accounted for.

  • Remember your Q3 taxes and prepare for EOY and early 2025 tax planning.

Remember to file your BOI report!

Speaking of EOY and business planning, please remember to file your BOI report (your entity’s Beneficial Ownership Information Report) by January 1, 2025. If you want more information, I have an Instagram post about BOI that is coming out soon.

The TikTok Ban was heard in court!

A federal appeals court is set to hear arguments from TikTok and the federal government over the potential ban of TikTok in the U.S., which could go into effect by January 19, 2025.

The government argues that the China-based parent company, ByteDance, poses a national security threat.

TikTok is challenging this, claiming that a ban would violate First Amendment rights and that divesting from ByteDance within the given timeline is not feasible. The panel of judges hearing the case is expected to make a ruling by December 6, and regardless of the outcome, the case is likely to be appealed to the Supreme Court.

TikTok and its content creators argue that banning the app would unfairly restrict free speech, while the government contends that the national security risks justify the proposed action.

I think the same as I did before; I can see it both ways. I think it will come down to how compelling the stories are, and honestly, so many creators have made a living off the app… I think it will be a very difficult decision.

We will see what happens in December!
