Redefining Leadership: What April Taught Me About Growth

If April taught me anything, it’s this: growth doesn’t always look like hustle. Sometimes, it’s about pausing long enough to listen—to your instincts, your community, and the parts of your business that need attention.

One of the most exciting moments this month was launching our very first monthly group coaching call for Lawyer In Your Pocket. It happened just last night at 6:30 PM, and it felt like the beginning of something truly impactful. Watching this vision come to life, and connecting with members in real time, reminded me that leadership is about creating space—for learning, collaboration, and real support.

And the momentum keeps building. I’m expanding the community with the launch of our ambassador program, giving members the chance to help spread the word with exclusive discount codes and access to upcoming workshops. This is only the beginning, but it already feels like a major shift—and a powerful reminder that growth happens when we lead with intention.

Kayla’s Note to Self

This month, I had one of the most eye-opening—and admittedly, scary—realizations about my business: I’ve been my own biggest roadblock. It’s not easy to admit, but it’s the truth. Over the past few weeks, I’ve had conversations with women far more experienced than me, many of whom shared they’ve faced the same challenge. Their honesty gave me the courage to take a step back, reassess my role, and recognize what was truly holding me back from moving forward.

Here’s what I’ve learned after a lot of reflection:

I’m a Visionary.

I thrive when I’m focused on the big picture—the strategy, the leadership, the direction. That’s where I add the most value. The details? Not so much. I need to stay in my lane, focusing on the areas where my strengths really shine.

Delegation Isn’t Optional—It’s Essential.

I’ve spent far too much time editing content, scheduling posts, and handling tasks that could be better delegated to others. I’m learning that my time and energy are far better spent on higher-level thinking and planning, not in the weeds of daily operations.

I’m the Legal Expert, Not the Operations Manager.

I’m deeply passionate about the legal side of my business, but there are people far better equipped to manage the day-to-day operations. My job is to invest in those people—trusting them to handle the details while I focus on what I do best: guiding Kayla Moran Law toward growth and impact.

Passion Can Cloud Clarity.

I’ve always cared deeply about my business, and while that’s a strength, it can sometimes mean I’m too close to every detail. It’s easy to get caught up in the passion, but taking a step back has given me the clarity to make better decisions and innovate. I’m learning that creating space to pause leads to stronger, more intentional moves.

I Need Structure.

I used to resist structure, deadlines, and schedules—part of what drew me to entrepreneurship was freedom. But now, as my business grows, I’m realizing that structure is not just helpful; it’s absolutely necessary. It’s the backbone that allows me to scale and manage bigger opportunities without burning out.

As my business continues to grow—with more clients, bigger opportunities, and expanding visibility—I’m learning that I can’t (and shouldn’t) do it all. I’m relying on my incredible team, mentors, membership ambassadors, and loved ones to help me build a business that truly reflects both my passion and my purpose.

And yes, I’m even exploring how AI can help streamline processes, while also recognizing the importance of bringing more human hands on deck to support our journey.

But above all, I’m incredibly proud of myself for being honest and vulnerable—acknowledging that the roadblock was me. Recognizing this has empowered me to realign with my strengths, and I know that when I lead from this place of clarity and purpose, Kayla Moran Law will only continue to grow stronger.

April’s Signature Moments

Masterclass with Breaking Glass

One of the standout moments of April was the opportunity to host a masterclass with Breaking Glass on The Business of Content Creation. Breaking Glass is a local female entrepreneur community I’m a member of that has brought me incredible support and it was a memorable experience connecting with these women in a new way, diving deep into what it really means to think like a business in today’s creator economy.

We covered everything from LLC formation and tax planning to FTC guidelines and brand protection—essential topics that often get overlooked but are vital for long-term success. My goal was to show that creators don’t have to choose between being creative and being strategic. You can embrace both—building content and community while also establishing a strong, sustainable business foundation.

Helping creators understand that they are the business, and equipping them with tools to protect and grow their brand, was not just rewarding—it was empowering.

Content Day with Breaking Glass

One of the amazing perks of the Breaking Glass membership is access to a dedicated content day at the beautiful Moe Studio. Emilee and I made the most of it—filming a ton of fresh content and bringing a few creative ideas to life in the process. I’m not used to filming sit down videos and talking at a camera, but the end result was worth it. I love spreading the knowledge I’ve acquired over the years of running my own business and being a content economy lawyer.

Want a peek behind the scenes? Emilee captured the day from her perspective—check out her BTS video on  TikTok for a fun look at how it all came together!

Influencer Marketing Show

After a slower-paced April by design, it’s energizing to be back in the mix—this time attending the 2025 Influencer Marketing Show in Hollywood, FL! The event brings together hundreds of brands, agencies, strategists, tech platforms, talent managers, and more, all diving deep into the ever-evolving creator economy.

Conversations span everything from ROI and the blind spots brands still face, to the power of social influence, data management, and emerging trends shaping the space. The energy is electric, and it’s both inspiring and empowering to be in rooms where I can share how I fit into the ecosystem—and how I support the players in it.

For me, it always comes back to collaboration: how we work together to create opportunities for talent, marketers, and brands alike.

After 3 days and countless conversations, I’m full of new ideas of how to market my services and my firm, tap into my ideal clientele and package my knowledge and time. Time to cook up some new offerings and maybe even some products?!

Trip to Key West & the Ballet

Sometimes, the best way to reset is to step away and embrace the simple moments—and that’s exactly what my trip to the Florida Keys and Key West provided. I had the chance to unwind with my family, soak up the sunshine, and slow down after a busy few months. We started our mornings with peaceful drives to see all the houses, lounging by the water, and the sunsets were so breathtaking that they truly made us pause and take it all in—each moment felt like a deep, refreshing breath.

But it wasn’t just about the getaway; it was about the quality time with my family.

One of the most special moments was going to the ballet with my grandma. Watching the performance together was a beautiful reminder of the importance of sharing experiences with loved ones—whether it’s a trip to the beach or a night at the theater.

We filled our days with the perfect balance of adventure and stillness—fresh seafood, poolside lounging, and plenty of laughter. This trip was the kind of reminder I needed about how important it is to rest, recharge, and reconnect—with both the people I love and myself.

Grateful for the time, the memories, and the chance to slow down before diving into the next exciting chapter.

Looking Towards May

This month reminded me that leadership isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about being willing to ask better questions, trust your instincts, and make space for change. Whether it was launching something new, having honest conversations, or simply taking a moment to rest, every step taught me something valuable about who I am and how I want to lead.

And as I reflect on growth and momentum, I can't help but think of the excitement around the Miami Grand Prix this weekend—another example of what happens when vision, strategy, and passion come together. It’s a great reminder that success requires both a strong foundation and the flexibility to adapt when things speed up. I’m carrying forward this sense of clarity, purpose, and intention.

I’m refocused, inspired and looking forward to integrating all the conversations I’ve been having to bring something special to the industry that is influx more than ever right now. See my LinkedIn for more on where I think the industry is going.

I’m grateful for this community, for your support, and for the chance to keep building something meaningful together.

Here’s to leading with heart, growing with intention, and embracing what’s next.
