Racing Through Networking in Miami

Lately, life been a whirlwind of connection and inspiration as I networked across Miami with friends, clients, and colleagues in sports, law, entertainment, tech, fashion, and more. The city was buzzing with incredible energy thanks to the F1 Miami Grand Prix, and I had a blast celebrating in style. Not to mention we also had the buzz from Cinco de Mayo and the Met Gala.

Zendaya, Laura Harrier, Kerry Washington, and Damson Idris were some of my favorite looks from the 2025 Met Gala. Who were some of your favorite looks?

But Miami’s buzz filled with events and networking wasn’t the only highlight of the week. Kayla Moran Law kicked off with a major personal and professional win. My pre-law (truly executive) assistant Emilee Garcia graduated from Florida International University and FIU Honors College, and I couldn’t be prouder to call myself her mentor, friend, and boss. I’m so excited for her to begin law school at FIU College of Law this fall, but for now, I’m grateful to have her on Team KML for one more summer (and hopefully forever - jk I love fostering talent and giving them opportunities to do what fulfills them).

F1 Week Momentum

Distinction Agency x Vetted Sports Sports Industry Networking Happy Hour

A huge thank you to my friends at Distinction Agency and Vetted Sports for hosting a fantastic happy hour during F1 Miami weekend! It was a pleasure meeting people I’ve only talked to on Zoom and on LinkedIn, reconnecting with powerhouses in the industry and meeting law students who are looking to break in with unique insights.

I also had the chance to connect with friends across media, marketing and sports agencies at Female Quotient’s mixer with F1 ACADEMY—a stunning day of panels focused on how top tech and beauty brands and their leaders are embracing motorsport and elevating women in sports beyond the track. It was inspiring to learn from top CMOs and VPs of partnerships and getting a restock of my fave Elemis cleansing balms didn't hurt.

To top it all off, I got some track time over the weekend with friends and clients—I got to go to the Spring Race and Qualifying sessions on Saturday and Sunday’s Race Day, closing this high energy week on an adrenaline-rush that will keep me fueled for months.

Conversations That Matter: Legal, Media, & Tech

We finally made it happen—after some technical difficulties the first time around—fellow attorneys Anuj Gupta, Frank Poe and I had a dynamic and insightful conversation about the intersections of tech, media and law and the shifts in the creator economy. It turned out to be an absolute can’t-miss so if you weren’t able to tune in live, I highly recommend watching the replay on my profile.

But if you’re short on time, here are some key takeaways from our discussion:

  • Tech companies are becoming media companies—and vice versa. Anuj is right at the intersection, supporting both worlds.

  • Clear brand mission is non-negotiable in content creation. It’s not as effortless as it looks.

  • Private equity is entering the entertainment space—and shaking things up.

  • Influencer marketing is evolving fast. Now’s the time to get ahead of the curve.

  • Experiential marketing is back and more impactful than ever for consumer engagement.

  • Storytelling is essential—not just for creatives, but for all companies, especially in tech.

  • Thriving in chaos is a superpower, especially for boutique law firms navigating fast-paced industries like the creator economy.

  • Fair contracts matter. Influencer agreements must reflect balance, collaboration, and mutual understanding.

  • Education is power. Influencers and their teams should know their rights—and how to negotiate them.

  • Strong relationships with counterparties pave the way for smoother negotiations and better outcomes.

  • Mutual indemnities protect both sides—influencers and the companies they work with.

The bottom line: Legal, media, and tech are more intertwined than ever—and understanding the evolving landscape of influencer marketing requires constant learning and open dialogue. That’s exactly why the three of us came together for this Live, and why we’re committed to continuing this conversation.

Let’s keep it going—reach out if you caught the episode and want to chat more.

F1 Race Day

As always, the Miami Grand Prix brought a whole new level of excitement to the city—and McLaren’s performance made it even sweeter (I write as I’m wearing a McLaren sweatshirt). There’s nothing like the thrill of seeing your favorite team show up and show out on home turf. The Lego Driver’s Parade was by far the best driver’s parade to date, if you haven’t seen it please do so asap. I missed it in person, but watching the video made me begin to smile immediately.

Watching the Miami Grand Prix always reminds me that F1 and law have more in common than you’d think. Both demand precision under pressure, the ability to make split-second decisions, and a deep understanding of strategy, risk, and timing.

Just like an F1 team, being an effective lawyer isn’t a solo mission—it takes a strong crew behind the scenes, constant communication, and trust in your preparation. Whether you're drafting contracts or heading into negotiations, staying ahead means anticipating every curve, adjusting when the conditions change, and knowing when to hit the brakes—or the gas.

F1 might be about speed, but the real win comes from control, consistency, and calculated moves. The same goes for the legal field. And just like a podium finish, there’s nothing better than seeing all the work pay off—for yourself and your clients.

Follow Up to Road Blocks Conversation

After weeks of nonstop networking in the incredible city I call home, I’ve had some moments of clarity about what it really means to build something meaningful as a founder in the legal space.

Entrepreneurship often looks exciting from the outside—especially when people tell you what you’ve created is “so cool” or “so needed.” But sometimes, those same people don’t join, refer, or support in the ways you hope. That’s the hard truth. It’s exciting, yes—but it can also be sobering. While I know the Lawyer In Your Pocket membership provides real value, there have been moments where I’ve felt unseen and unvalued. And in the legal creator world, that hits hard.

Recently, someone told me I was being “too salesy.” That wasn’t my intention, but it was a reality check. I never want my messaging to feel pushy or transactional—I want people to feel the heart behind what I’ve built. I want to show the why, not just the what.

This feedback sparked a conversation in my own head and with my community about marketing challenges and strategies—and it came full circle on our inaugural monthly coaching call for the membership. Here’s what surfaced from these discussion:

  • I faced direct criticism for how I was marketing my membership in a creator community.

  • That helped me realize I needed to adjust the messaging and approach—especially when speaking to creators. Intention matters but so does delivery.

  • I’m now working on developing new content sharing why I started the membership, my firm overall and my mission. In ways I really never have because I talk about it so often I forget people don't know.

  • I’m also cooking up new offerings that more clearly explain the value proposition and mission of KML. And embracing new ways to provide that value across various sectors. Niching down is great but it's time to expand a little.

  • I’m even considering hiring law students who are also content creators to provide deeper insight into how I can better serve this space and to give them opportunities to learn the legal side before they’re licensed like I had to.

That’s what real-time entrepreneurship looks like—pivoting based on feedback, learning as you go, and leading with integrity. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about being willing to improve and staying committed to the people you serve.

From the celebrations to the challenges, from coaching to content creation, I’m feeling recharged and realigned. The mission hasn’t changed—it’s only getting sharper.

Quote of the Month

The Cool Down

From the fast-paced energy of the Miami Grand Prix to the meaningful conversations I’ve been having all week—and the very real reflections on entrepreneurship—the last few days reminded me that growth comes in motion. Sometimes it’s full throttle, other times it’s a pit stop for clarity. But no matter what, it’s all about moving forward and tyre (or in my case, mission) management.

Whether you joined a happy hour, tuned into a live show, showed up for a coaching call, or simply supported me from afar—I see you, and I appreciate you. Your presence and encouragement mean more than you know. I’m excited to show you guys the brand partnerships and vacation(s) I’m hoping to have throughout the next few months. And maybe some more speaking events too!

Here’s to building boldly, creating thoughtfully, and showing up with heart.

Keeping Up with Kayla and Kayla Moran Law
