New Year, New Challenges: January Wins & Bar Prep Advice

Why I’ve Been MIA

I know I’ve been a bit quiet lately, but 2025 kicked off at full speed! If you've been following along on IG you might know my flight home from Europe was massively delayed due to weather and that set me on a weird road back to my routine but I think it's finally getting back on track. January was a whirlwind of exciting opportunities and unexpected challenges. Here’s a glimpse into what’s been happening behind the scenes:

Speaking engagements and work commitments have kept me on my toes, but I’m genuinely grateful for every opportunity to share insights and connect with incredible people.

Staying true to my 2025 resolutions, I’ve been prioritizing my routine and mental health. Eating cleaner and MORE, journaling, along with returning to therapy, has really helped me stay grounded. I got a gym membership finally and have been trying to stay true to my daily to do lists, which I shared an example of in this video.

The first unexpected plot twist of the new year? I had to get a new car — and let me tell you it was not easy or fun dealing with insurance and car dealerships but we did it!I got to upgrade slightly from my beloved 2020 HRV and now I feel more stylish and put together when I drive around to meetings - a la The Lincoln Lawyer, just in a Buick!

Another challenge? Keeping up with all the TikTok ban drama and not to mention the BOI reporting stuff too. It’s been a lot of renegotiating client brand deal contracts, but with a growing team and my clients’ support we’re pushing through getting our talent the best deals they can get.

Speaking of growing teams, I've also had some tough but necessary conversations with my team—growth isn’t always easy, but it’s a crucial part of the process.

If your year started off a little chaotic too, just know you’re not alone. Here’s to February treating us all better!

Personal Moment: Growth, Reflection & Big Things Coming

We’ve been working on big things behind the scenes at Kayla Moran Law—from refining our marketing strategy to launching new offerings. There’s been a lot of restructuring, organizing, and admin work, but it’s all to serve you better.

And with lots of change comes lots to share so buckle up:

Last week, I had the privilege of being invited to judge the 2nd Annual Counseling Creators Conference at the University of Miami School of Law, and I was thrilled to return. Last year, I had the pleasure of meeting so many bright, driven law students, helping them navigate the journey of finding their niche, securing internships, and connecting with my friends and colleagues who flew in for the week. I even hosted my first law firm event but in true Kayla fashion there’s no content because I was too busy yapping — but don’t worry I’m working on this.

Year two was equally impressive and I am feeling so empowered and excited for the future of the creator economy after witnessing the exceptional creativity and talent of the students from across the US and Canada who came to compete. It’s always such a rewarding experience to witness students in the same position I once was, and I’m excited to see where their journeys take them.

I also want to take a minute to reflect on my growth in the last year. I shared a video on Tik Tok and post on LinkedIn about how much has changed since the first Counseling Creators and I wanted to share it here to say how therapy and journaling has been so therapeutic for me this year. As Kayla Moran Law takes on new challenges and opportunities, I love to look back and see where I was before I went to law school. Check out more reflecting here:

I’ve also been reflecting on busyness and how important it is to slow down and take a breather. Here’s what has been working for me:

  • Going to bed and waking up earlier has changed my life —  in bed by 10:30 and up at 7, who am I?

  • Amazing friendships and a support system have made all the difference. Surround yourself with people who uplift and inspire you! And let go of the ones who make you feel weird or judgy or you find yourself comparing to.

The February Bar Exam is Here!

I remember how overwhelmed and nervous I felt those days leading up to the bar. It’s important to remember that you’ve been putting in the work for months and you’re more ready than you think. Breathe and trust your preparation.

The most important thing right now is to take care of yourself. Get plenty of rest, eat well, and give yourself grace as you put the final touches on your mindset and approach. Believe in the effort you’ve put in and trust the process!

Here are some links to advice I’ve shared over the years:

The day I got my results was one of the best days of my professional journey. Visualizing this moment really helped and of course my mantra “CONFIDENCE IS A STRATEGY” was my guiding light all week.

I wish this for all of you and I can’t wait to see all of your reaction videos! Be sure to tag me.

Your direction is more important than your speed.

Off to Mexico!

I’m heading to Mexico for my first wedding—an Indian wedding at that! I can’t wait to experience all the celebrations with my college friends. Be sure to follow me on social media to keep up and see the outfits of course, they're so good!

2025 may have started off a little rough, but I have a good feeling about what’s ahead.
