Starting Q2 Mentality

Spring is here, and with it, the first quarter of the year has come and gone in the blink of an eye! It’s been an exciting few months for Kayla Moran Law, and I’m feeling like I’ve reached a flow state AKA when your skills and challenges are aligned. Growing a law firm and seeing your ideas come to life is not for the weak.

Nobody teaches you how to be a lawyer, let alone run your own business, but I feel so good about what is to come and what I’m working on and the clients I’m attracting. We’ll talk more about that in next week’s newsletter but for this one, let's celebrate my new launch and the Q1 wins!

Membership Launch: Lawyer in Your Pocket

Starting strong with the latest thing I’ve been cooking up…

I’m beyond excited to announce the launch of Lawyer In Your Pocket, Kayla Moran Law’s new membership designed to give creators, entrepreneurs, and influencers the ongoing legal support they need—without the hefty price tag.

This idea has been on my mind for a long time, but I hesitated to start it, wondering if people would truly see its value.

Now, three years into my practice, I know the need is greater than ever.

Legal services can be expensive, and education is a huge part of what we do in the creator economy—so why not bring it all together in an affordable, engaging way?

What’s Included?

  • Unlimited business hours Slack access to me

  • 1:1 calls with me

  • Group coaching sessions

  • Exclusive discounts on legal services

  • Resources to keep you informed & protected

  • And so much more!

The first 5 members to sign up will receive an extra discounted rate! And our intro pricing of $150/m only lasts for 3 months so run don’t walk to sign up.

My goal has always been to take a creator-first approach to legal—making law accessible to the creators and creative entrepreneurs who need it most.

This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to roll out even more exciting offerings soon.

Because let’s be honest—I wouldn’t be me if I wasn’t always working on something new. 🤓

Quote of the Month

Closing out Q1

As we say goodbye to Q1, I wanted to recap with you the many exciting projects that have come to life over the past few months. From engaging events to valuable collaborations, this quarter has been all about growth, innovation, and laying the groundwork for even bigger things ahead.

LinkedIn Live

I partnered with my colleague, advocate and friend Frank Poe on a new LinkedIn Live series and our first session was a success!

Technically second if you count our Tik Tok Ban Debrief session.

While we patiently wait for the next one, let’s dive into some of the best insights from our conversation:

(And if you missed it, be sure to catch the recording on my profile!)

Key Takeaways from Our Discussion:

  • Success in the legal industry isn’t one-size-fits-all – There are many paths beyond the traditional route.

St. Thomas University School of Law IP Palooza

I had the honor of speaking at St. Thomas University Benjamin L. Crump College of Law for their IP and Cyber Law Society’s IP Palooza symposium a few weeks ago. It was an incredible experience—one that challenged me, inspired me, and reinforced why I do what I do.

I was the youngest and only female attorney on the panel, sitting alongside professors, law firm partners, and law school deans. I won’t pretend imposter syndrome didn’t creep in at first. But as the conversation unfolded—covering AI in music, synthetic influencers, contracts, licensing, and trademarks—I felt my confidence grow.

One of my fellow panelists was an attorney I first connected with over five years ago on social media—someone I had even reached out to for a job as a 2L. Talk about a full-circle moment.

By the end of the two-hour discussion, several students and professors came up to thank me for my insights and advice. Moments like these remind me that while my path may be unconventional, I belong in these spaces.

It’s empowering to not only contribute to conversations about the legal challenges in the entertainment and creator economy industries but to also continue learning from leaders in the field.

Lately, there’s been a lot of discourse about whether law students should have an online presence.

My take? The legal industry is evolving, and that perspective is outdated.

If you want to be a lawyer in the creator economy or entertainment industry, consider this your sign:

SHOW UP.
In your classes

At industry events
Online—loud and proud

Ask questions, seek mentorship, and share what you do know. Your voice matters. Your experiences are valuable. And trust me—someone is watching.

Now’s the time to start building your personal brand. You never know where it will take you.

NYC Business Trip

I took on New York City in what started as a family trip but quickly turned into a jam-packed business and networking sprint. Over six days, I challenged myself to see just how many friends, colleagues, and clients I could meet—all while squeezing in some family time.

One of the best parts of coming to NYC so often is finally feeling like I know my way around. I’ve built a routine, discovered my favorite spots, and, most importantly, expanded my network beyond just online connections and my hometown.

A huge shout out to the PR and influencer agencies, consultants, strategists, lawyers, law students, and law firms I connected with this week—plus my amazing college friends who made time to catch up. Getting to sit down for a client business dinner felt like a real full-circle, “grown-up” moment in my career.

One of the highlights was visiting Jayaram’s Law Office, why? Well they have some of the most iconic and unique law office setups I’ve ever seen. I love being in spaces that show people that being a lawyer doesn’t mean that you can’t have your own creative and personal touch in your work life and space. Definitely gave me some ideas for when I open my own office someday!

FSU Course: The Creator Economy Playbook

One of the most exciting projects of Q1 was my opportunity to collaborate with the Stoops Center for Law & Business at FSU College of Law. If you don’t follow me on social media, you might have missed this—but now that I finally have a moment to reflect, I’m thrilled to share it with you!

Last summer, I received an unexpected email from FSU’s Stoops Center. Having applied to FSU Law in the past without being accepted, I wasn’t very familiar with their programs. But over time, I’ve come to admire how they’ve integrated entertainment and sports law into their curriculum. Not many law schools do this and I knew I needed to learn more.

After a few emails and calls, I was presented with an incredible opportunity: to contribute my expertise to their executive education series on the business of being a professional service provider in the creator economy. Without hesitation, I said yes.

Fast forward to this past month, and I found myself in Tallahassee, filming a full course on this rapidly evolving field.

I missed my original flight due to bad time management and weather… And then my connecting flight was further delayed by weather, so I arrived much later than planned but I’m grateful the Stoops team worked with me to make it happen. I was exhausted, ended up losing my voice and running on pure coffee and adrenaline but I powered through, filming five in-depth modules on navigating legal and business in the creator space.

The Stoops team has been nothing short of amazing throughout the process, making me feel completely at ease and now it's in editing. Stay tuned for the teaser and the full length course coming soon!

NYC and Tallahassee together have been unique experiences and both humbling and validating ones at that.

They’re proof that my journey into and within the creator economy, especially as a lawyer, is making an impact.

If I could go back in time and show law school me (or even baby lawyer me) where I am now, I know she’d be so proud.

Final Thoughts

As we close the chapter on Q1, I’m feeling energized for what’s ahead. The momentum is building, the projects are expanding, and the creator economy continues to evolve—and I’m grateful to be at the intersection of it all. Looking back on the beginning of my career, I cannot believe where Kayla Moran Law is now. It’s hard to not reflect after so many accomplishments and be thankful for where you started.

This past quarter was about laying the groundwork, and Q2 is about scaling, refining, and pushing forward with even more clarity and confidence. Whether it’s launching Lawyer in Your Pocket, speaking on panels, or expanding my network in my hometown or elsewhere, one thing remains constant: the legal industry is changing, and adapting with the change is always a challenge I’m ready to face.

To everyone who’s been part of this journey—thank you. Your support, insights, and conversations continue to inspire me. Let’s make Q2 a season of bold moves, new opportunities, and leveling up together.
